Is there a life for dolorean outside of myspace? December 23, 2006

We’ve been feeling it from all sides here at the dolorean headquarters… from fans, from business types, from label honchos. They spent our entire promotional budget on M.I.T. bean-counters who crunched the numbers and found that the probability of dolorean’s “big break” was going down each and every day we refused to put up a myspace page. Nobody had any idea how many friends we had, and sadly, there was no way to accurately document how many times we checked our own page to make our plays-per-day count skyrocket. In addition to all this previously metioned dolorean-related internet chaos there was no forum for fans or complete strangers (mostly the later) to leave witty one liners and mindless self-promotional banter on our web-page.

I decided that there has to be a middle-ground and chose to develop a wordpress-based dolorean website. Yes, the format looks a little “bloggy” but it allows us to post current information easily and link it to other pages, photos, videos, and music. For starters I’VE ADDED 3 NEW SONGS FROM THE UPCOMING DOLOREAN RELEASE. THEY’RE LISTED ON THE “recordings” PAGE. (Sorry there are no seizure-inducing banner ads to look at while the song plays, I guess you’ll just have to listen to the song). While there isn’t any way to be “friends” with dolorean through the site, if you wanted to be friends in real life you could come up to one of us at a show and ask a question, start a conversation about something of interest, or bring up an experience that we might have in common. That way we could be actual friends. Also, you could email us through the website. We’ve always responded to every email that we’ve received. Also, if you’re interested in the community of friends and artists that dolorean creates within, we’ve got an on-going, ever-growing list of links on the right side of the webpage that will connect you to the things and people that inspire us to do good work. Lastly, since I don’t see the value of a one-sided conversation (what sort of friend would we be), the wordpress format allows for an easy way for readers to add comments and replies to the posts that we put up. (Witty one liners and mindless self-promotional banter included!)

I hope that this site works. I hope that we have a great exchange through this website and even moreso in person when we play shows in support of the new record.

All the best,
Al James and the Dolorean gang

P.S. Most of the people and musicians that I love the most in this world have a myspace page. I just wasn’t made for these times.
