Hey, just noticed the tabs site. Even though I play piano rather than guitar, it’s good to have the chords as a starting point. Thanks Kevin (if you happen to be reading)
Hey all – Yep Roc have some pretty good deals on Dolorean music right now – especially if you’re a vinyl collector – check ‘em out at yeproc.com
Just bought my first 2 vinyl LP’s (Violence and You Cant Win) Now I need to find a record player. I’ve found that they are hard to come by at thrift stores. Anyone know of a good place to get one?
hi! iloove love love “heather remind me how this ends”. you need to come back to virginia!!! richmond, to be exact;)
i love your voice:)
have a great night, and keep being amazing.
p.s. to johnnybertram: i am not being sassy when i say, go look in a creek! haha. seriously, especially if you find one behind someone’s house. that’s where i found some ooold records, and i have to go back for the record player.
Hey Pete (and everybody else for that matter), I’m happy to provide tabs for the community. I’d love to help with the piano transcription, but for one thing, I stopped playing piano around the age of 8, and for another, I don’t know of a good way to communicate actual written music. But if you know the notes of the strings on guitar, you should be able to manage.
I also wanted to let everyone know that Al has been ridiculously cool regarding my tabs — I sent him a link to my site, and he replied with an extremely gracious email, and even offered to send me Sudden Oak and Violence in the Snowy Fields so I could tab them as well. Thus, VitSF is now available in its (chorded) entirety. Expect Sudden Oak as soon as I find enough time to finish it up. And of course, he has officially sanctioned the site here, though hopefully at some point he will go through and correct the (probably numerous but hopefully small) mistakes.
Rest assured that I will be going out of my way to do something good for Dolorean whenever I get a chance, and I hope you all will too. Not many musicians are that appreciative, so be sure to return the favor.
hey there. just wanted to say that i love your music. i own all of your cd’s except for one, the e.p. , is there any way that can be purchased?? thanks a lot.
Hello!
I bought your two YepRoc LPs several weeks ago and recently I’ve found myself compulsively picking up your albums to play them from star to end. There’s something in the melodies! One thing I wanted to tell you is, I expected to find a lyrics insert when I opened my vinyls. I grew up on my dad’s albums and I guess I’m used to the delights of something else inside that cardboard envelope…
um, i really like your music and the word on the street is that you might play some PDX shows shortly. details please.
I am moving to Central America in Oct and my one dream is to hear dolorean play live one time before I depart my beloved northwest. make a girl’s dreams come true…
I also want to thank Kevin…great work! Can anyone tell me where I can buy Sudden Oak? My Dolorean collection is not complete without it. Also, any word on tour info? I live in the Dallas area, and would give an arm to see Dolorean live.
Keep up the good work gents.
where can i purchase “sudden oak?”
I want to buy Sudden Oak, too.
Also wanting to purchase sudden oak…
I’ve set up a temporary fix for the online store. Old fashioned mailorder. The details are posted at the top of the “Recordings” page. I know it’s outdated, but remember those SST and Homestead cassettes that arrived in the mail? Feel 14 all over again with our lo-tech mail order. I promise to fill orders quickly and remember we only have LPs for “You Can’t Win” and “Violence in the Snowy Fields”. Thanks for the interest…
thanks for the fix, Al. The check is in the mail.
[...] LABEL, YEP ROC RECORDS, WHO ALREADY HAVE PLENTY OF OUR MONEY. TO PURCHASE ALBUMS FROM US VISIT THE ‘RECORDINGS’ PAGE ON THIS [...]
Thank you for your fabulous music. I can’t even begin to tell you how many hours of work, driving and living have been made lighter because of your music.
Hey there, just wanted to say that “Traded For Fire” is one of the most haunting and beautiful songs I’ve heard
Anybody know what’s up with Kevin’s tabs page? I miss playing Dolo tunes.
no but I wish I did . . . I’ve been checking it for months now and it’s always a page loading error
Does anyone know whether Dolorean plans to do any shows outside of the US ? I am from Israel and recently had the pleasure of seeing a “Lambchop” concert here in Tel-Aviv.
But getting Dolorean here would be unforgettable!
Hey Kevin emailed me and I updated the link to the Dolorean Tab Page that he set up. It should be fixed… Thank You Kevin! I appreciate it. Won’t be in Israel, but looks like some good solo shows coming together in the UK and EU in Sept. Will post info as I get it.. Thanks Al
Where can I buy a copy (cd) of Sudden Oak. I need it very very bad. Thanx
Travis – see the note Al posted under the Al James The Unfazed Mini Tour thread
I need a copy of Sudden Oak too, really bad
YO. I was wondering if you could clear something up for me. I’ve had a copy of Not Exotic for like 6 years now but my ipod recently went under and my copy went missing. I downloaded a new copy of the album from Emusic.com and just started listening to it again today. Something is up though… The songs sound a little more produced than with my previous album. Did you guys record alternate takes to these songs and put out to different versions of the Not Exotic?
Noah, nothing has been tweaked on that album since its release in 2003. Might be funny settings on whatever you’re playing it back on digitally. But we haven’t touched it since it was finished and manufactured…
Dear Mr James any way of buying a copy of Sudden Oak?
Are you still doing paypal for the recordings?
I no longer see the paypal info at the top of the page.
Hey all, new Dolorean site is in the works (probably a week or so) and all the music will be available for purchase including Sudden Oak (CD) Not Exotic (CD), VITSF (CD and LP), You Can’t Win (CD and LP) and also the Dolorean UK tour disc “Sketches For Portraits”. Thanks for your patience. I’m hoping a new site will be open for visitors in short time… All the Best, Al James
Thanks for the update Al.
Hope you guys can make it down to the Southeast (ie Athens, GA) during your next tour.
Should be touring for real in the new year with a new album “The Unfazed” out in May/June on Partisan Records. Looking forward to hitting lots of spots we’ve missed for the last couple years…Al
Please, Please, Please, Stop and play a show in Denver, CO!
i know it’s a bit out of the way, but portland maine has a great venue (the space gallery) that would love to have you! can’t wait for the new album.
Hey Al,
This is Jay’s cousin, not sure if you remember me from the wedding… I was the pirate with the eye patch from Ohio. Anyway I heard you guys on the WYSO radio station the other day in the car “Traded for Fire” – Not Exotic. I was so pumped!! If you guys come by this area, you should get ahold of them and get on the show. Also my sister does a radio show at Miami University and would love to play some of your tunes. Keep up the good work & tell Jay hello from Curtis, Brittni & Forrest in Ohio!
Hi Dolorean. I may be your biggest fan in NYC. Please come back here. I need you.
Here is an idea. You wander on up to the northeast, pick Richard Buckner up in New York on the way, make it all the way up to Portland, Me, play a show at the Space Gallery (which is really a nice little venue) and then let me buy all your drinks to celebrate that I got to see two of my favorite artists. Doesn’t that sound nice?
While you’re hitting the northeast, pop by Burlington, VT and play us a few – Higher Ground would love to have you, and the crowd would assemble
How about North Carolina? Some rednecks here and there, but Andre the Giant called it home.
