I’ve got those WINTER BLOOZE where all I can do is listen to the same few records over and over….Neil Young and Crazy Horse/Sleeps With Angels, Gillian Welch/Time(The Revelator), Deer Tick/War Elephant, Reigning Sound/Break Up Break Down, The Feelies/The Good Earth

Jack G./Damien Jurado Experimental Video/Last weekend Jack G. was in town for JT, Dolowolf, Laz D. and Damien Jurado. Up at 3:30 AM in the Portland streets he always makes good use of his time. Might be my favorite of his projects - simple and emotional. in other words, completely Jack.

Justin Timberlake/Summer Love/This is my current favorite track off FutureSex/LoveSounds - Oh and yes I saw JT last Friday from a VIP box. Mindblowing.

Amy Annelle from The Places sent me this beautiful video of her playing a new song called “Everyone Has Spoken”. Captured in a Mongolian style yurt, god-knows-where, with Jolie Holland sitting by. Makes me fall in love with her all over again. (shot & edited by Chris Drury)

and i thought i had it good when i found a pristine copy of nashville skyline at mcminnville’s gw

2. Matthew - February 23, 2007

Wow, what a great find….4 dollars for Pacific Ocean Blue, I have only heard snippets of that album. I guess the album is in the same category of Neil’s Time Fades Away, people just waiting for it to be properly released again. Its almost unfathomable to me how it took so long for the On the Beach to reappear again.

Anyway, Just curious, but did you know that Keith Moon’s first band before the Who were called the Beachcombers? He loved them and surf music in general. Apparently, when Bruce Johnston brought a pre-copy of pet sounds to London, everyone hailed it, except for Keith, who was disappointed that they had lost their surf music sound

Pentangle… I just found a crop of thems in an old collection of my pops’… you need any others?

4. Al James - February 25, 2007

Ethan -Nashville Skyline is always a choice aquisition. Tigard, Oregon has produced some gems for me in the past (Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew comes to mind) but I’ve never scored in McMinnville, maybe I need to venture further down 99W into wine country? Matthew-Didn’t know about Moon’s original band… I’d love to hear Keith pounding out that tribal-surf-trash stuff. & Kaleb-I’ve got a few other Pentangle albums, Basket of Light is pretty good, really I don’t like it nearly as much as just the Bert Jansch solo stuff.

my roommate and i used to frequent that mcminnville goodwill every sunday after church. i never found much vinyl (dylan, aristocats soundtrack, cat stevens, and the housemartins), but good grief..i must have housed 50 plus cds. don’t tell damien…but i found rehearsals for departure. that made my week.

6. Al James - March 1, 2007

I do still always check the CDs and tapes at GW. Partly because blank tapes have become collectable so I look for extra fancy ones (ceramic, chrome, etc…), and I always check the CDs. The best I’ve every found is DJ Shadow’s Endtroducing, which is a rad album, but I think in the back of my head I always scan the tapes and CDs for the grail- Denny Wilson’s 1991 Sony CD release Pacific Ocean Blue on either format. Lately, I’ve never been even close, but you know what they say about practice…All the best to the treasure hunters out there… Al

8. johnny - April 17, 2007

What?! I guess Dolorean cant survive without myspace.

9. Pete Simpson - April 17, 2007

Would just like to point out that even though the “About Dolorean” seems to be lifted directly from a review I wrote on Amazon, I have nothing to do with this site - I don’t even have a myspace account.

Still, if it gets the word out a bit further………

10. Cosswell - April 27, 2007

Al, I’m crying in my wine right now. I may end up in the Bay Area soon. Real soon. If it’s true, please be my guest in my new Berkeley home. Let’s play the horses at the Golden Gate Fields and spill it over a few Budweisers. The west is the best…baby.

11. Laura Berg - October 12, 2007

I bought your cd while I was in Austin at Waterloo Records. It is just an amazing beautiful record. I have told everyone about your band and would love to see you live. Please don’t forget about Chicago during your next tour. Can’t wait to hear your new music.

12. Jon - December 9, 2007

Funnily enough, I got my copy of Pacific Ocean Blue for £1 in a boot sale. It’s just one of those albums. Makes up for all the other trash I’ve paid £1 for over the years - but if you don’t search, you don’t find…

Cool music. Only just found Dolorean, but glad I have.

13. Danny Preising - December 26, 2007

Not sure if you want best of list, but fans of Dolorean’s great music may discover some of these other gems:

1. The National - Boxer (as good as the hype)
2. Barn Burning - Werner Ghost Truck
3. Avett Brothers - Emotionalism
4. Dolorean - You Can’t Win
5. Shout Out Louds - Our Ill Wills
6. Winter Sounds - Porcelain Empire
7. Jason Anderson - Tonight
8. Great Lake Swimmers - Ongiara
9. Deer Tick - War Elephant
10. Fionn Regan - The End of History

Merry Christmas and thanks Dolorean!
